Watercolour Postcards Coastline Weekend Paint a personal collection of postcards inspired by the sea, shells, and coastal textures Join illustrator and watercolour artist Alice Stevenson for a second weekend of postcard painting—this time inspired by the shapes, colours, and forms of the seaside. Using the beach and its treasures as your muse, you’ll explore expressive watercolour techniques while building your confidence and creativity. This course is perfect for both beginners and returning students. You’ll create a cohesive set of watercolour postcards based on natural forms such as pebbles, seaweed, and shells, while learning to mix colours, apply brushwork techniques, and combine materials with freedom and flair. 🌿 What You’ll Learn: - Observe and paint from natural forms found at the coast - Mix harmonious and surprising colour palettes - Explore textures and shapes through brushwork and mark-making - Develop your unique painting voice - Take inspiration from artists who explore the sea and coastline - Work on blank watercolour postcards, experimenting with watercolour, gouache, pencils, and fineliner 🖌️ Course Schedule Day 1 – Studio + Outdoors Morning: Explore colour mixing and mark-making in the studio using pebbles, shells, and seaweed as references Afternoon: Paint on location by the sea, developing your visual responses into sketches and colour studies Day 2 – Outdoors + Studio Morning: Continue painting on location, refining observation and composition Afternoon: Return to the studio and develop finished postcard pieces, using imagination, sketch references, and mixed media layering 📍 Course Info Dates: 23rd & 24th August Time: Sat 10:30 am – 3:30 pm (with 1-hour lunch break) Location: Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards Materials: Not included – a list will be sent after booking 🎨 About Alice Stevenson Alice is a professional illustrator and watercolour artist known for her elegant, expressive style. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Please note: Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you're unsure whether a class is suitable for you or someone you're booking for, please get in touch before booking. Bookings & Payments • You can book places on our classes, workshops and events via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. • All bookings are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. • You will receive a booking confirmation by email once your payment has been processed. Materials • Materials and tools vary depending on the class. Please refer to the individual course description for details. Feel free to contact us with any questions in advance. Cancellations & Changes • Bookings are non-refundable. • Due to our small class sizes, it is usually not possible to transfer bookings to another date. • If you notify us at least 14 days in advance, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. • If you contact us 7 days before the class, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. The more notice you give, the better chance we can help. • If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please inform us of their name before the class. Cancellations by Us • In the rare case that we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. • Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. We are not responsible for any additional costs such as travel, accommodation, or pre-purchased materials. Insurance & Professional Standards • Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops. • All of our tutors carry their own Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and are experienced professionals in their field.
