Embroider Your Wardrobe & Accessories Evening Course (we are also running a Wednesday afternoon course) Ever wanted to breathe new life into an old t shirt, cover up a stubborn stain, repair a worn area, or simply embroider a jacket, tote bag, socks or scarf? This course explores embroidery as both embellishment & repair, combining creative stitching with visible mending techniques. Join professional embroidery artist & Bus Stop Studios founder Amy Burt for this thoughtful 4 part Tuesday evening course. A key focus is learning how to make the right embroidery choices for different items. You will explore which stitches suit particular fabrics & uses, how & where embroidery can be placed, how to transfer designs accurately & how to choose appropriate threads for durability & appearance. Amy is trained in over 25 embroidery techniques, got a stitching challenge or tricky fabric in mind? She loves a problem to solve. This makes the course ideal for a wide range of projects, from simple embellishment to more complex repairs & unusual materials. This course is perfect for total beginners & experienced stitchers alike. You will apply this knowledge to a personalised project on garments, accessories or textiles of your choice. Projects may include clothing, bags, patches, socks, scarves or small household textiles, with guidance tailored to your individual item & aims. Week 1 Planning your project, deciding placement, stitches, thread choices & design transfer methods. Weeks 2 to 4 Developing your project through stitching. Learning to adapt embroidery for wear & movement, & combining decorative embroidery with visible mending & repair. Amy is a qualified hand embroidery artist based in St Leonards on Sea. She has taught at the Royal School of Needlework since 2016 & worked with fashion houses including Alexander McQueen, Ralph & Russo & Erdem. She contributed embroidery to the Coronation of King Charles III. Her book STITCH was published in 2021. If you can pay the standard fee, this helps support our tutors & makes our classes more accessible to everyone. Please choose the price that feels right for your circumstances. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Please note: Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you're unsure whether a class is suitable for you or someone you're booking for, please get in touch before booking. Bookings & Payments • You can book places on our classes, workshops and events via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. • All bookings are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. • You will receive a booking confirmation by email once your payment has been processed. Materials • Materials and tools vary depending on the class. Please refer to the individual course description for details. Feel free to contact us with any questions in advance. Cancellations & Changes • Bookings are non-refundable. • Due to our small class sizes, it is usually not possible to transfer bookings to another date. • If you notify us at least 14 days in advance, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. • If you contact us 7 days before the class, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. The more notice you give, the better chance we can help. • If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please inform us of their name before the class. Cancellations by Us • In the rare case that we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. • Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. We are not responsible for any additional costs such as travel, accommodation, or pre-purchased materials. Insurance & Professional Standards • Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops. • All of our tutors carry their own Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and are experienced professionals in their field.
