Embroidery for Fashion Summer School Join us at Bus Stop Studios this summer for a special week long haute couture embroidery course taught by studio founder Amy Burt aka Lady B Embroidery. Ever wanted to learn the embroidery techniques used by some of the biggest names in fashion? Now’s your chance! In this hands-on, technique-rich summer school, you’ll explore professional methods used in leading fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen and Ralph & Russo. Suitable for confident beginners and those with existing experience (please note tambour can be a challenging technique so some embroidery experience may be useful) About Your Tutor Amy is a qualified Hand Embroidery Artist and Tutor based in St Leonards on Sea. She has taught for the Royal School of Needlework since 2016 & worked for top fashion labels including McQueen, Ralph & Russo, Erdem & more. She was part of the RSN team who embroidered the robes for the Coronation of King Charles III. www.ladybembroidery.co.uk What You’ll Learn Day 1 • Frame up a rotary frame—quick on, quick off, just like the fashion studios • Master the tambour hook using chain stitch • Learn to turn corners and start/stop with control Day 2 • Tambour with beads, sequins, bugle beads, and seed beads Day 3 • Filling larger areas with vermicelli stitch (aka Chinese spaghetti!) • Layered sugar stitch techniques with sequins and beads Day 4 • Hand beading techniques • Lace appliqué Day 5 • Silk ribbon embroidery • Hand embroidery stitches for fashion embellishment What’s Included The course fee includes a £30 kit Kit Includes - Rotary Frame - Tambour Handle - 2 tambour hooks - Silk Organza - Fil-a-Gant thread - Sequins - Beads - Beading Needles - Threads - Lace Course Details Dates: 27th - 31st August Time: 10:30am – 3:30pm daily (with lunch break) Location: Bus Stop Studios 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. TN37 6AY This course is taught in a small group setting, with plenty of individual guidance and support. Standard fee: £250 (includes £30 kit) Like many small businesses, we’re seeing rising costs, so we’ve made a small increase to our course prices. To keep things fair and sustainable, reduced-fee places are now limited rather than open to everyone. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you are unsure whether a class is suitable, please contact us before booking. Bookings & Payments - Classes, workshops and events can be booked via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. - Bookings are first come, first served. - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. (please see below for payment options) - A booking confirmation will be sent by email once payment has been processed. Pricing & Supported Places - As a small independent business, our class fees help cover running costs, tutor pay, preparation time and associated expenses. - We may offer 1-2 lower income or supported places on selected courses, subject to availability. - These must be requested by email before booking and are offered at our discretion. - If the cost of a longer course feels difficult to manage, please contact us before booking and we may be able to discuss options such as a payment plan. Materials - Materials and tools vary by class. Please check the course description for details. Cancellations & Changes - Bookings are non-refundable. - Transfers are usually not possible due to small class sizes. - With at least 14 days' notice, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. - With 7 days' notice, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. -If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please let us know their name before the class. Cancellations by Us - If we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. - Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. Insurance & Copyright - Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops, and all tutors hold their own Public Liability Insurance. - Course content, handouts, photography and designs are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared or used for teaching or commercial purposes without written permission. Photography - We may occasionally take photographs during classes for marketing or social media. - We will always ask permission before taking or using identifiable images. - Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns about photography.
