Mend & Make Do: A Day of Visible Mending Saturday 23rd May 2026, 10:30am – 3:30pm Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards-on-Sea, TN37 6AY Join embroidery artist and Bus Stop Studios founder Amy Burt (aka Lady B Embroidery) for a full-day workshop dedicated to the art of visible mending. Learn to repair, revive, and reimagine your favourite garments with hand-stitched charm and creative flair. In this relaxed and friendly class, you’ll explore a range of decorative and practical techniques to patch, darn, and stitch new life into well-loved clothes—whether it’s denim, knitwear, or kids’ clothes. Perfect for beginners and confident stitchers alike. We’ll cover: - Sashiko-inspired patching and decorative stitches - Hand darning techniques for knitwear - Mending Delicate Fabric All with a sustainable, slow-fashion approach. What’s Included: - Full-day workshop (10:30am–4:30pm) with one hour for lunch - Expert tuition with Amy - All materials provided: threads, patches, hoops, sample fabric, darning mushrooms, needles - A take-home repair kit to keep you stitching beyond the studio Bring up to 3 garments to mend (at least one knitwear & one regular clothing) You're welcome to bring your own sewing kit, threads, or favourite fabrics too Workshop Schedule: 10:30:–1:00 – Patching & sashiko stitching 12:30 - 1:30 – Lunch break (BYO or pop out locally) 1:30–3:30 – Darning for knitwear plus extra techniques if time About Your Tutor Amy is a qualified Hand Embroidery Artist and Tutor who has taught for the Royal School of Needlework since 2016. She has worked for fashion houses including Alexander McQueen, Erdem, and Ralph & Russo, and was part of the RSN team that embroidered the robes for King Charles III’s Coronation. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you are unsure whether a class is suitable, please contact us before booking. Bookings & Payments - Classes, workshops and events can be booked via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. - Bookings are first come, first served. - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. (please see below for payment options) - A booking confirmation will be sent by email once payment has been processed. Pricing & Supported Places - As a small independent business, our class fees help cover running costs, tutor pay, preparation time and associated expenses. - We may offer 1-2 lower income or supported places on selected courses, subject to availability. - These must be requested by email before booking and are offered at our discretion. - If the cost of a longer course feels difficult to manage, please contact us before booking and we may be able to discuss options such as a payment plan. Materials - Materials and tools vary by class. Please check the course description for details. Cancellations & Changes - Bookings are non-refundable. - Transfers are usually not possible due to small class sizes. - With at least 14 days' notice, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. - With 7 days' notice, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. -If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please let us know their name before the class. Cancellations by Us - If we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. - Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. Insurance & Copyright - Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops, and all tutors hold their own Public Liability Insurance. - Course content, handouts, photography and designs are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared or used for teaching or commercial purposes without written permission. Photography - We may occasionally take photographs during classes for marketing or social media. - We will always ask permission before taking or using identifiable images. - Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns about photography.
