Summer Knit School with Katie Jones This relaxed, friendly week-long course is perfect for absolute beginners & confident improvers alike. Whether you are picking up needles for the first time or ready to build on the basics, Katie will guide you through everything you need to gain confidence & enjoy the meditative magic of knitting. Make a creative holiday of it: learn with us in the afternoon, then spend your evenings exploring St Leonards-on-Sea, the beach & all the brilliant local spots. We also have a recommended list of accommodation. Please get in touch for details. Who it is for? This course is suitable for both beginners & improvers. Please let us know your skill level when booking so we can tailor the sessions to suit everyone. What you will learn Beginners will cover: - Casting on & casting off - Knit & purl stitches - Working in rows - Simple shaping & fixing mistakes - Yarn types, needle sizes & tension - Reading a basic pattern Improvers can explore: - Textured stitch patterns such as seed stitch, ribbing, or lace - Colour play & combining yarns - Customising shapes - Troubleshooting patterns Materials Basic yarn & materials are provided & included in the course price. If you would like to bring your own colours, we can send you a materials list in advance. We also have a lovely range of yarn & haberdashery in the Bus Stop Studios shop. As a student, you will also receive 10% off any purchase in the shop. About the tutor Katie is a celebrated knit and crochet designer known for her bold colour palettes, joyful creativity, and inclusive approach to teaching. Her work has been featured by the V&A Museum, Selfridges, and Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas, and she’s the author of Hip to Be Square. Price £135 - Materials included Keeping classes accessible Like many small businesses, we’re seeing rising costs, so we’ve made a small increase to our course prices. To keep things fair and sustainable, reduced-fee places are now limited rather than open to everyone. If cost is a barrier, please reach out: we can offer payment plans and, once the course has enough bookings to run, a small number of reduced-fee places where possible. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you are unsure whether a class is suitable, please contact us before booking. Bookings & Payments - Classes, workshops and events can be booked via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. - Bookings are first come, first served. - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. (please see below for payment options) - A booking confirmation will be sent by email once payment has been processed. Pricing & Supported Places - As a small independent business, our class fees help cover running costs, tutor pay, preparation time and associated expenses. - We may offer 1-2 lower income or supported places on selected courses, subject to availability. - These must be requested by email before booking and are offered at our discretion. - If the cost of a longer course feels difficult to manage, please contact us before booking and we may be able to discuss options such as a payment plan. Materials - Materials and tools vary by class. Please check the course description for details. Cancellations & Changes - Bookings are non-refundable. - Transfers are usually not possible due to small class sizes. - With at least 14 days' notice, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. - With 7 days' notice, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. -If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please let us know their name before the class. Cancellations by Us - If we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. - Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. Insurance & Copyright - Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops, and all tutors hold their own Public Liability Insurance. - Course content, handouts, photography and designs are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared or used for teaching or commercial purposes without written permission. Photography - We may occasionally take photographs during classes for marketing or social media. - We will always ask permission before taking or using identifiable images. - Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns about photography.
