Thread Painting Summer School Summer School with Amy Burt This immersive week focuses on planning as much as stitching. You will work on a flower (or fruit) design, a perfect stepping stone for learning the core techniques. You may not finish your piece in the week, but you will be guided through the full planning process & make a strong start, with the skills to continue at home. Make a creative holiday of it: stitch with us during the day, then spend your evenings exploring St Leonards-on-Sea, the beach & brilliant local spots. We also have a recommended accommodation list: please get in touch for details. Who it is for? Suitable for people with some experience of hand embroidery. Please share your skill level when booking. If you are already experienced in thread painting / silk shading & have completed a flower/fruit before, you may be able to work from an animal reference (please check with us first). What you will learn: - Setting up & working on a rotary frame on silk - Choosing & preparing a reference image - Long & short stitch foundations - Colour blending for smooth shading - Adding detail & troubleshooting common issues Materials: You will work on a rotary frame (included in course fee plus framing up material) You will need to buy threads and silk fabric in advance of the class (see below) We will have an online meeting before the class starts. You will need to submit a flower (or fruit) photo for approval before the course, Amy will help you choose thread colours and silk fabric in time for the class, . About the tutor: Amy Burt is ta professional hand embroiderer the founder of Bus Stop Studios and a Royal School of Needlework (RSN) Tutor with 10+ years’ teaching experience, with haute couture training & credits including King Charles III’s Coronation embroidery. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you are unsure whether a class is suitable, please contact us before booking. Bookings & Payments - Classes, workshops and events can be booked via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. - Bookings are first come, first served. - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. (please see below for payment options) - A booking confirmation will be sent by email once payment has been processed. Pricing & Supported Places - As a small independent business, our class fees help cover running costs, tutor pay, preparation time and associated expenses. - We may offer 1-2 lower income or supported places on selected courses, subject to availability. - These must be requested by email before booking and are offered at our discretion. - If the cost of a longer course feels difficult to manage, please contact us before booking and we may be able to discuss options such as a payment plan. Materials - Materials and tools vary by class. Please check the course description for details. Cancellations & Changes - Bookings are non-refundable. - Transfers are usually not possible due to small class sizes. - With at least 14 days' notice, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. - With 7 days' notice, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. -If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please let us know their name before the class. Cancellations by Us - If we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. - Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. Insurance & Copyright - Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops, and all tutors hold their own Public Liability Insurance. - Course content, handouts, photography and designs are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared or used for teaching or commercial purposes without written permission. Photography - We may occasionally take photographs during classes for marketing or social media. - We will always ask permission before taking or using identifiable images. - Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns about photography.
