Hand Embroidery Afternoon Course Join us every Tuesday afternoon for a relaxing & fun hand embroidery course led by Bus Stop Studios founder Amy Burt, aka Lady B Embroidery. Whether you're a total beginner or returning to build on your skills, this friendly, mixed-level group is the perfect place to learn, stitch and share ideas. You can choose to: Book a half term of 6 lessons (first half only) Or the full 12-week term for a deeper dive into technique and projects – best value! Each student is supported to work at their own pace. You can follow a structured course with Amy, or develop your own project with her help and advice. Course options include: - Intro to Embroidery – Learn the core stitches - Raised & Textured Embroidery – Padding, layering, & 3D effects - Fashion & Couture Embroidery – Beading, tambour & advanced techniques - Silk Shading – Learn the art of thread painting - Goldwork Embroidery – Traditional metal thread techniques - Blackwork Embroidery – Intricate monochrome patterns and filling stitches - Whitework Embroidery – Delicate white-on-white techniques - Alternatively, bring your own design ideas and develop them week by week. Amy is trained in over 25 embroidery techniques and loves a challenge! When booking, please let us know your level and what you'd like to focus on. Materials: Purchase what you need in class at a discounted rate, or request a materials list to bring your own. This is a mixed-level group with a lovely combination of returning students & new faces. Absolute beginners are very welcome, no experience needed. Amy is the owner of Bus Stop Studios & a qualified hand embroidery artist and tutor based in St Leonards-on-Sea. She has taught at the Royal School of Needlework since 2016 & worked for London fashion houses including Alexander McQueen, Erdem & Ralph & Russo. Afternoon Crochet School Come stitch up some joy this new year with renowned crochet designer and tutor Katie Jones! Whether you're a complete beginner or already hooked on crochet, this six-part course is designed to help you build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy creative time in a friendly, supportive setting. Who’s it for? Complete beginners: Learn all the fundamentals from scratch — no experience necessary. Confident crocheters: Bring along a tricky pattern or project and let Katie guide you through it with expert support. What You’ll Learn Over six sessions, beginners will cover: - How to make a classic granny square - Working in rows and in the round - Colour changes and simple colourwork - Creating texture with a variety of stitches - Understanding hooks, yarns, tension, and reading basic patterns Improvers can explore: - More advanced stitch combinations - Starting and shaping garments or accessories - Finishing techniques - Troubleshooting patterns - Personal project development with Katie’s guidance Materials Basic yarn and tools for practice are included in the course fee. If you'd prefer to use your own colours or fibres, we’ll send you a materials list in advance. A £5 materials fee is included in the price. Learn to Sew in a Weekend Taught by Lauren from Sew Cosy Patterns Always wanted to get to grips with a sewing machine? This friendly, hands-on weekend course is perfect for complete beginners—no experience needed and no sewing machine required. We’ll provide everything you need. Across the weekend, you'll create four stylish and practical projects, each designed to build your skills and confidence. You’ll finish with a set of completed makes, reusable patterns and instructions, plus a couple of bonus projects to try at home. Projects include: • Pencil Case • Glasses Case • Drawstring Bag • iPad/Kindle Case Techniques covered: • Inserting a zip • Creating a drawstring channel • Sewing on buttons • Adding elastic • Attaching magnetic clasps All materials and tools are included in the course price. Just bring glasses if you need them, tie long hair back, and wear closed shoes. This course is taught in a small group setting, with plenty of individual guidance and support. The workshop runs for a total of 8 hours across the weekend (2 hours per project, with breaks). Standard fee: £145 Low income rate: £120 We offer a reduced rate for those on low incomes.
