Canadian Smocking: A Day of Fabric Manipulation with Amy Burt Discover the beauty of fabric manipulation in this one day workshop with embroidery artist & Bus Stop Studios founder Amy Burt, aka Lady B Embroidery. Using just fabric, thread & a few clever stitches, you'll learn how to transform flat cloth into rich, sculptural surfaces. Canadian smocking, also known as North American smocking, is worked from a simple grid on the back of the fabric. By gathering points together, you'll create beautiful raised patterns on the front. Over the day you'll learn three designs: lattice, lozenge & flower. You'll go home with a set of samples to refer back to, ideas for using smocking in fashion, cushions & interiors, & the confidence to keep experimenting. What's included: Expert tuition with Amy All the fabric, thread, needles & printed guides you need to complete your samples Amy has taught at the Royal School of Needlework since 2016, worked for Alexander McQueen, Erdem & Ralph & Russo & contributed to King Charles III's Coronation embroidery. www.ladybembroidery.co.uk Good to know Small classes of up to 6, suitable for all levels from complete beginners to confident stitchers. To keep things fair and sustainable, reduced-fee places are now limited rather than open to everyone. Cancellation Policy
Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Most classes are for adults. If unsure whether a class suits you, please contact us before booking. Bookings & Payments Book via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, TN37 6AY. Bookings are first come, first served. Full payment is required when booking, unless you choose a payment plan or membership. Materials vary, see each course description. A confirmation email will be sent once payment has been processed. Payment Plans & Memberships Some longer courses can be paid monthly or offer a membership, as shown in the course description. By choosing one, you’re booking the whole term, course or membership period and agreeing to make all payments, which are taken automatically each month by card. Any course policy applies alongside these terms. Drop in Lessons Some classes offer pay as you go drop in lessons when there’s space and enough students for the class to run. Please email hello@busstopstudios.com first to check. Pricing & Supported Places We may offer 1 to 2 supported places on selected courses, at our discretion. Please request these by email before booking. If a longer course feels difficult to manage, check whether a payment plan is available or contact us. Location & Access From December 2026, classes take place in our downstairs classroom, reached by stairs with railings. Please contact us before booking about any access needs. Cancellations & Changes You can cancel up to 14 days before the class, or the first session of a multi week course, for a full refund. Within 14 days, bookings are non-refundable, but you’re welcome to send someone else in your place. Please let us know their name before the class. If we can fill your place from our waiting list, we’ll offer you a [refund / credit note]. Missed sessions on a course, payment plan or membership can’t be refunded or credited. Cancellations by Us If we cancel a class, you’ll receive a full refund. Our liability is limited to the cost of the class. Insurance & Copyright Bus Stop Studios is fully insured and all tutors hold their own Public Liability Insurance. Course content, handouts, photography and designs are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared or used commercially without written permission. Photography We may take photos during classes for marketing or social media, and will always ask before using identifiable images. Please let us know if you have any concerns.
