Modern Freeform Quilting Weekend with Kasia Hamilton Explore contemporary hand quilting through an intuitive, freeform approach to textile making. In this two-day workshop, you will transform fabric scraps and personal textiles into an abstract quilted collage, experimenting with colour, texture, composition and hand stitch. Rather than following traditional patterns or worrying about precision, this workshop encourages you to work spontaneously and let the fabrics guide the process, inspired by personal experiences, places, journeys and everyday surroundings. You will be introduced to fundamental stitching and hand-quilting techniques, learning how to layer, stitch and construct a freeform textile composition to take home and continue working on if needed. Suggested finished size: approximately 30 × 40 cm to 50 × 70 cm. Suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. Come prepared to experiment, play with fabric and embrace the unexpected. Materials Scrap fabrics and wadding will be provided. We ask participants to bring: One piece of fabric to work as a backing (size depends on your final design — best not too big). Scraps of fabric you'd like to incorporate (old clothes, old sheets etc). Additional scrap fabrics, wadding and sewing equipment will be provided. Tutor Kasia is a creative practitioner originally from Poland, now based in St Leonards on Sea, with a professional background in interior design and many years spent creating interactive and narrative-driven experiences. Keeping classes accessible Like many small businesses, we're seeing rising costs, so we've made a small increase to our course prices. To keep things fair & sustainable, reduced-fee places are now limited rather than open to everyone. If cost is a barrier, please reach out: we can offer payment plans & once the course has enough bookings to run, a small number of reduced-fee places where possible. Terms & Conditions for Class Bookings Most of our classes are designed for adults. If you are unsure whether a class is suitable, please contact us before booking. Bookings & Payments - Classes, workshops and events can be booked via our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY. - Bookings are first come, first served. - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place. (please see below for payment options) - A booking confirmation will be sent by email once payment has been processed. Pricing & Supported Places - As a small independent business, our class fees help cover running costs, tutor pay, preparation time and associated expenses. - We may offer 1-2 lower income or supported places on selected courses, subject to availability. - These must be requested by email before booking and are offered at our discretion. - If the cost of a longer course feels difficult to manage, please contact us before booking and we may be able to discuss options such as a payment plan. Materials - Materials and tools vary by class. Please check the course description for details. Cancellations & Changes - Bookings are non-refundable. - Transfers are usually not possible due to small class sizes. - With at least 14 days' notice, we may be able to offer a transfer or credit note, subject to availability. - With 7 days' notice, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed. -If you cannot attend, you may send someone else in your place. Please let us know their name before the class. Cancellations by Us - If we need to cancel a class, workshop or event, you will receive a full refund. - Our liability is limited to the cost of the class only. Insurance & Copyright - Bus Stop Studios is fully insured for all classes and workshops, and all tutors hold their own Public Liability Insurance. - Course content, handouts, photography and designs are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared or used for teaching or commercial purposes without written permission. Photography - We may occasionally take photographs during classes for marketing or social media. - We will always ask permission before taking or using identifiable images. - Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns about photography.
