Hello & welcome to our new and existing members!.

It's been a busy autumn so far here on London Road & there's lots to share as we head towards the busy Christmas period

Bus Stop Studios Summer Exhibition open call 2026

Current Exhibition - Accidental Landscapes by Jem Sharman

There's still time to see Jem Sharman's first solo show, Accidental Landscapes, which runs in our gallery until 30th November.

Jem moved to St Leonards in 2021 & has been captivated ever since by our town's mix of grand Victorian architecture, postwar design & ever present sea & sky. Every painting in this collection features well known landmarks & vistas from St Leonards, caught in that lovely low autumn light that turns stucco & concrete silver & gold.

Though Jem is best known for his portraits, this show finds him turning his eye to buildings & views, portraits of a town rather than its people. All work is for sale & you can see the full collection info click the exhibition page on our webiste here

Message in Sky Bayeux Kits

Thank you so much to everyone who pre-ordered our Message in Sky embroidery kit, inspired by the Halley's Comet scene in the Bayeux Tapestry. Your kits are now ready & on their way to you in the post next week!

If you missed the pre-order, you're in luck. From November we'll be stocking the kits online & in store, and you can order online here priced at £45.99. They make a lovely gift for any stitcher, especially with the Bayeux Tapestry coming to the British Museum. Look below for in person and online classes

Embroidery Membership

For those of you who stitch with us all year round, I'm really pleased to introduce our new yearly Embroidery Class Membership. It's the best value way to join our weekly classes & it means your place is held for the whole year, so there's no need to rebook each term.

For £50 a month you'll get:

All 3 terms of your weekly class, 36 lessons in total
10% off my other workshops & courses
10% off in the shop

Changes at Bus Stop Studios

The New Year brings some big changes to the studio. At the start of December, the shop will be opening up into our current classroom, giving us much more space for the stationery, art supplies, haberdashery & gifts you love, plus room for lots of new stock.

Our classroom is moving to the studio downstairs, which will also be my own working studio. It's reached by a staircase with railings, so if you have any questions about access please do get in touch & we'll be happy to help.

I've also made the decision to focus on teaching my own embroidery classes, so we won't be scheduling any new classes with other tutors. Any classes that are already booked will go ahead as planned. It's been a real joy to host so many talented local makers & I'm so grateful to every one of them.

The good news is our tutors, & any other local makers, can now hire the downstairs classroom for their own classes & events. We'll list their classes on our website with links to book directly with them, so you'll still be able to find lovely things to learn at Bus Stop Studios.
